Meta has announced two new wearable products at Meta Connect 2026: the Meta VR Glasses, a two-part virtual reality system, and the camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio. The VR Glasses are scheduled to arrive in spring 2027 from $1,299 in the US, while the audio-only Ray-Ban glasses will go on sale October 13 for $349.
Meta VR Glasses separate the hardware
The Meta VR Glasses use a split design. The glasses contain the displays and sensors, while a connected puck provides the computing hardware, storage and battery. An optical cable links the two components.
Moving those larger components away from the frames allows the glasses themselves to weigh 100 grams. Meta says they use micro OLED displays with 5K resolution and 37 pixels per degree, with support for Dolby Vision. The frames include speakers supporting Dolby Atmos spatial audio.
The system runs Meta AI through its operating system. Its sensors also let users interact using eye movements and hand gestures, providing control methods beyond traditional physical inputs.
Features include 3D movies and hologram calls
Meta says the VR Glasses use Qualcomm's newly announced Snapdragon Reality Elite chipset and provide up to three hours of use with the connected puck. The puck supports 45W fast charging.
The glasses are IMAX Enhanced certified and support 3D movies. They can also run games through Xbox Cloud Gaming, giving the device entertainment uses beyond conventional virtual reality experiences.
For video calls, Meta is introducing Hologram Calling. The company says the feature creates a photorealistic representation of the user, including real-time facial expressions and reactions. Meta has not provided further availability details in the announcement beyond the spring 2027 launch window.
Ray-Ban Meta Audio removes the camera
The Ray-Ban Meta Audio is Meta's first camera-free smart-glasses model. Instead of image-capture features, the glasses focus on audio and retain the familiar eyewear format.
The glasses weigh 43 grams and are rated for up to 12 hours of use on one charge. Their charging case can provide up to 48 hours of total usage, according to Meta.
Meta will offer the Ray-Ban Meta Audio in 23 colour and lens combinations, including new Clubmaster and Burbank styles. The glasses are priced at $349 and will be available beginning October 13.
The two announcements show Meta pursuing separate wearable categories: a high-end immersive device that shifts computing into an external puck, and a more conventional pair of smart glasses built around hands-free audio without a camera.
