Lava has launched the Shark 2 Pro, a budget 5G smartphone built around a 6,000mAh battery and a 120Hz display. The phone is priced at ₹16,700, or about $175, and will become available through online and offline retailers soon.

The Shark 2 Pro closely matches the hardware configuration of Lava’s Virat V1 Pro, which was introduced in late August. Its main differences in the lineup appear to come from the design and branding rather than a substantially different internal platform.

Lava Shark 2 Pro specifications

The phone features a 6.75-inch IPS LCD with a 720 x 1,600-pixel resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 550 nits of brightness in high-brightness mode. An 8MP camera sits inside the display notch for selfies and face unlock.

On the back, the Shark 2 Pro has a single 50MP wide camera. Although the rear design may suggest additional lenses, Lava has not included any secondary cameras. Both the front and rear cameras can record video at up to 1080p and 30 frames per second.

A side-mounted fingerprint reader provides another unlocking option. Lava says it can unlock the phone in 280 milliseconds.

5G performance and expandable storage

The Shark 2 Pro uses Unisoc’s T8200 chipset, a 6nm platform with an integrated 5G modem. Its octa-core processor combines two Cortex-A76 cores running at up to 2.3GHz with six Cortex-A55 cores at up to 2.1GHz. Graphics are handled by a Mali-G57 MP2 GPU.

Lava pairs the processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The hybrid dual-SIM slot supports a microSD card with up to 1TB of additional capacity, although users must give up one SIM slot to use it.

Wireless connectivity includes dual-SIM 5G, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.4. The phone also includes a USB-C 2.0 port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Battery, software and durability

A 6,000mAh lithium-polymer battery powers the device. It supports 18W wired charging, but Lava says a full charge from zero to 100% takes approximately two hours and 40 minutes.

The Shark 2 Pro ships with Android 16 and is scheduled to receive Android 17. That will be its final major operating system update, while Lava promises two years of security patches. The company describes the software as bloat-free, although its Vayu AI assistant is included.

The handset measures 8.7mm thick and weighs 207 grams. Its IP64 rating indicates protection against dust and splashes, but not submersion. Lava also provides a one-year replacement warranty for the phone and six months of coverage for accessories, along with its Free Service@Home program.

Price and availability

Lava will sell the Shark 2 Pro in India for ₹16,700. The company says the phone will be available soon through both online and offline retail channels. For comparison, the Virat V1 Pro is listed at ₹16,000 on Flipkart.
