Apple is set to release iOS 27 on Monday, September 14, the company confirmed during last Wednesday's iPhone event. The update is the year's largest software release for the iPhone, headlined by the more capable Siri features Apple has been promising, along with a long list of smaller refinements.

iOS 27 will not arrive alone. macOS Golden Gate and the other members of the OS 27 family, including iPadOS 27, are expected to go live at roughly the same moment.

Apple has not published a precise hour, but its track record with major releases points to approximately 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, which is 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Apple's regional websites support that estimate: the company's India page lists a September 14 launch, while pages for Singapore, Hong Kong and other markets in the region list September 15. That split only makes sense with a release window near 10:00 a.m. Pacific, which falls after midnight in much of Asia and Oceania.

How to install iOS 27 and what to expect

Once the update goes live, open Settings, tap General, then Software Update and give the device a moment to check in with Apple's servers. Install over Wi-Fi with the iPhone or iPad charged, since the process can take a while. Users who prefer not to chase the release can simply connect the device to a computer later and let the update download then.

Expect the first hours to be slow.
