The Huawei Watch GT 7 Pro is a polished smartwatch with premium construction, dependable health tracking and battery life that can stretch well beyond two weeks. Huawei has also expanded its sports features for cycling, skiing, snowboarding and golf, while improving GPS positioning in difficult areas. However, the watch changes little from its predecessor, making it a stronger choice for owners of older devices than for Watch GT 6 Pro users.
Premium design with a bright display
The 46mm Watch GT 7 Pro retains the brushed titanium alloy case used on earlier Pro models. A new nanocrystal ceramic bezel adds contrast around the display and should provide better resistance to scratches. Huawei sells the watch in Pine Green, Wild Yellow and Carbon Black, with matching strap and bezel accents.
The new strap design tucks underneath itself rather than using a conventional buckle. That creates a secure fit and avoids a loose buckle getting in the way during outdoor activities. The watch uses 22mm straps, so standard third-party replacements can also be fitted.
Its 1.47-inch AMOLED display has a 466-by-466-pixel resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate and an advertised peak brightness of 3,000 nits. Testing recorded 1,040 nits in automatic mode, which was still sufficient for clear viewing in bright sunlight. Sapphire glass protects the panel, while IP69 protection and a 40-meter dive rating make the watch suitable for snorkeling and freediving, but not scuba diving.
More sports features, familiar software
HarmonyOS 6.1 keeps Huawei’s familiar card-based interface. The watch works with Android and iOS through the Huawei Health app, but its third-party app selection remains limited outside China. NFC payments are supported through Curve Pay, while direct replies to notifications work with Android and Huawei phones but not when the watch is paired with an iPhone.
Huawei’s biggest additions are aimed at athletes. Cycling modes now cover urban, road and long-distance rides, with elevation previews, climb planning, sharp-turn alerts and lactate-threshold data. Ski and snowboard modes include maps for more than 3,000 resorts, trail information, turn analysis and G-force data. Golf tracking adds features such as plays-like distance, shot distance and multicolor scorecards, although those modes were not tested during the review.
The new AI-XDR positioning system uses the accelerometer and gyroscope to help fill GPS gaps. In testing, it produced more consistent route data in urban areas, including when passing through underpasses. A physical readiness score also combines sleep, workout, stress, heart-rate and heart-rate-variability data into a score from 1 to 100.
Reliable health tracking and exceptional endurance
The Watch GT 7 Pro uses the same TruSense sensor and algorithms as its predecessor. Heart-rate and blood-oxygen readings closely matched the Watch GT 6 Pro, while sleep tracking accurately recorded bedtime and wake-up time in most cases. The watch also supports ECG readings, pulse-wave arrhythmia analysis, heart-rate variability and arterial-stiffness tracking.
These measurements are intended for monitoring trends rather than medical diagnosis. Sleep tracking includes light, deep and REM stages, movement, heart rate, blood oxygen and respiratory rate, although occasional nighttime awakenings were missed.
Battery life is the watch’s strongest advantage. With health tracking enabled, automatic brightness, three workouts per week, frequent notifications and occasional calls, testing reached 15 full days. Enabling the always-on display reduced endurance to 10 days. Huawei claims up to 21 days with light use, and a full recharge takes around 90 minutes.
Huawei Watch GT 7 Pro verdict
The Watch GT 7 Pro is an appealing everyday smartwatch for buyers who want premium materials, broad activity tracking and minimal charging. Its sports improvements are meaningful, and its positioning appears more accurate in challenging urban environments. Still, the unchanged core hardware and familiar health performance mean Watch GT 6 Pro owners have little reason to upgrade. For users coming from an older Huawei watch—or from a smartwatch that needs daily charging—it is a compelling option.
