Huawei has launched the MatePad Air Z tablet series in China, with a standard MatePad Air Z joined by a more affordable Enjoy Edition. The two models share most of their hardware, but differ in display options, chipsets, camera features and charging speeds.

Prices for the MatePad Air Z Enjoy Edition start at CNY 2,999, or about $447. Huawei is offering a CNY 200 introductory discount, reducing the starting price to CNY 2,799, equivalent to roughly $417. The standard MatePad Air Z starts at CNY 3,699, or approximately $551, while the PaperMatte version costs an additional CNY 600.

12-inch displays with a 144Hz refresh rate

Every MatePad Air Z model uses a 12-inch IPS LCD with a 2,800 × 1,840-pixel resolution, a 3:2 aspect ratio and a 144Hz refresh rate. The standard edition can be configured with Huawei’s PaperMatte display option, which is paired with a different chipset from the regular models.

The standard and Enjoy Edition tablets use Huawei’s Kirin T93SD chipset. The PaperMatte configuration instead uses the Kirin T93S system-on-chip. Buyers can choose between 8GB or 12GB of RAM, with storage options of 128GB or 256GB.

Large battery and different charging speeds

All versions include a 10,100mAh battery. Charging performance separates the two main editions: the standard MatePad Air Z supports 66W charging, while the Enjoy Edition is limited to 40W.

The tablets run HarmonyOS 7 and support Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. Those connectivity features are included across the lineup, rather than being restricted to the higher-priced standard model.

Camera and feature differences

For photography, the MatePad Air Z series includes a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. The standard edition also has an LED flash, while Huawei omits the flash from the Enjoy Edition.

The lineup gives buyers a choice between a lower starting price and faster charging. The Enjoy Edition retains the same display size, refresh rate, battery capacity and operating system as the standard model, while the standard version adds faster charging and the option of a PaperMatte display.

Huawei has announced the MatePad Air Z series for the Chinese market. The available product listing confirms the Enjoy Edition’s pricing, while the company’s stated lineup includes both standard and Enjoy configurations.
