Huawei has unveiled the Mate 90 Pro Max in China as the flagship of its Mate 90 series. The phone combines a 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED display, a triple-camera system built around large RYYB sensors and a 6,800mAh battery. A Collector’s Edition also supports Huawei’s detachable Ruiying Z10 camera module, bringing a separate 1-inch sensor and continuous optical zoom to the phone.

Mate 90 Pro Max camera specifications

The main rear camera uses a 50MP 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor with optical image stabilisation. Its aperture can change continuously between f/1.4 and f/4.0, allowing the camera to adjust how much light enters the lens.

Huawei has paired it with a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. This sensor also measures 1/1.28 inches, includes optical stabilisation and provides 4x optical zoom. A 40MP ultrawide camera completes the rear setup, which also includes Huawei’s third-generation red maple colour sensor.

For the front camera system, the Mate 90 Pro Max has a 13MP ultrawide camera and a 3D depth-sensing camera. The Collector’s Edition adds compatibility with the Ruiying Z10 external camera module. The accessory has a 1-inch RYYB sensor, a 24-240mm focal range, continuous 10x optical zoom and an f/2.0 to f/4.5 aperture range.

12,000-nit display and Kirin hardware

The phone uses a 6.9-inch dual-layer LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Huawei lists peak brightness at 12,000 nits, placing the display among the phone’s headline hardware features.

The Mate 90 Pro Max runs HarmonyOS 7 and uses Huawei’s Kirin 9050 Pro chipset. Models with 12GB of RAM instead use the Kirin 9050. Storage configurations include 512GB and 1TB options, depending on the edition and memory configuration.

A 6,800mAh battery supplies power, with support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, StarLight E2.0, NFC and eSIM support. The phone also carries an IP69 rating for resistance against dust and water.

Mate 90 Pro Max price and editions

Huawei offers the standard model in Crystal White, Emerald Green, Obsidian Black and Rose Gold. The Collector’s Edition is limited to Emerald Green.
