Honor is preparing to unveil the Magic9 series on September 28, and its latest teasers focus on the Magic9 Pro Max's video and imaging capabilities. The phone will feature what Honor calls a cinematic microphone, along with support for a teleconverter accessory.

Honor's imaging innovator Han Han described the microphone's performance in everyday situations. The company says it can capture sounds from both near and far while keeping them clear, including the sound of fried food, a coffee machine and clothing moving in the distance.

A microphone designed for video recording

The microphone's ability to pick up sounds at different distances is positioned as a benefit for video recording. Rather than focusing only on the subject immediately beside the phone, Honor says the system can deliver a more dynamic sound experience across a scene.

Honor has not provided further technical details about the microphone in the teaser. The company has also not confirmed whether the feature will be available across the entire Magic9 lineup or only on the Magic9 Pro Max. For now, its wording specifically links the cinematic mic with the Pro Max model.

ARRI branding and cinematic color

The Magic9 Pro Max will also carry ARRI branding. Honor says the phone will incorporate ARRI's color science, with the aim of making everyday footage feel more like a movie.

That announcement adds a color-focused element to the phone's camera pitch. The teaser does not describe the specific recording modes, resolutions or controls that will be available, so those details remain scheduled for the full launch presentation.

Teleconverter leaves the other cameras uncovered

Honor has additionally teased a teleconverter for the Magic9 Pro Max. An image shared by the company shows the accessory attached to the phone while leaving the other two cameras uncovered.

That design suggests the attachment is intended to work with one camera without physically blocking the remaining lenses. Honor has not yet disclosed the teleconverter's magnification, price or availability.

Magic9 launch details are approaching

Honor has already revealed pricing for the standard Magic9, although the amount is not included in the latest teaser. The company says the Magic9 Pro Max will cost more than that model.

Honor is expected to provide the remaining details when it unveils the Magic9 series on September 28. Until then, the cinematic microphone, ARRI color science and teleconverter are among the clearest features confirmed for the Pro Max through the company's previews.
