Honor has introduced the Magic9 Pro Max as its top-tier Android phone for late 2026, combining dual 200MP cameras with professional-focused video features developed around its partnership with German camera maker ARRI. The phone also includes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip, an 8,800mAh silicon-carbon battery and fast wired and wireless charging.
The Magic9 Pro Max starts at CNY 6,499 for a configuration with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage in China. The range-topping model, with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, costs CNY 8,499. Honor has not yet provided international pricing or availability.
Dual 200MP cameras lead the system
The main camera uses a 23mm-equivalent 200MP sensor measuring 1/1.28 inches, paired with an f/1.6 aperture. A second 200MP camera handles telephoto duties, using an 85mm-equivalent periscope lens, a 1/1.4-inch sensor and 3.7x optical zoom.
A 50MP ultrawide camera with a 12mm-equivalent field of view completes the rear camera setup. Both the main and telephoto cameras include CIPA 8.0 image stabilization, which Honor describes as providing “gimbal-level” stabilization.
Honor says ARRI image science is applied across all three cameras. The system includes ARRI color profiles and cinematic filters that can change the footage’s grading with a single tap. The phone can also record using ARRI’s LogC3 Curve with 10-bit color and the ARRI Wide Gamut 3 color space.
For users who want a more camera-like setup, Honor will offer an optional teleconverter kit with a 500mm lens attachment. A handheld SmallRig cage is also available, providing mounting points for accessories such as grips, LED flashes and microphones.
Large display and flagship hardware
The phone has a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1,320 by 2,868-pixel resolution and a variable refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz. Honor lists a global peak brightness of 2,000 nits, while its local peak brightness can reach 10,000 nits in an isolated area during HDR video playback.
The display uses an updated NanoCrystal Shield with additional silicon nitride layers and an anti-reflective coating. The Magic9 Pro Max runs MagicOS 11 based on Android 17 and carries an IP69K ingress-protection rating.
Battery, charging and availability
Its 8,800mAh silicon-carbon battery supports 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. The phone is available in Shadow Black, Glacier Silver and Moss Green.
Honor’s camera-focused approach gives the Magic9 Pro Max a broader appeal than a typical flagship, particularly for users who want advanced color workflows and accessory support without carrying a dedicated camera. Whether those features reach markets outside China will depend on the company’s future international launch plans.
