HMD is reportedly preparing another lower-end Android smartphone, and a leak has provided an early look at its main specifications. The handset is currently known by the codename “Darkhawk,” although its eventual retail name remains unclear.
The leaked details come from an X account that has shared information about HMD devices. According to the post, the phone will combine a high-refresh-rate display with a large battery, 8GB of RAM and a MediaTek processor. HMD has not announced the device or confirmed the specifications.
HMD Darkhawk rumored specifications
The Darkhawk is said to feature a flat display with a 120Hz refresh rate. A faster refresh rate can make scrolling and supported animations appear smoother than on conventional 60Hz panels, although the leak does not reveal the screen’s size, resolution or panel technology.
The phone will reportedly include 8GB of RAM. That would give the device a comparatively generous memory allocation for a lower-end model, but the available information does not say whether HMD will offer different memory or storage configurations.
Powering the handset is allegedly MediaTek’s Helio G100 chipset. The leak does not provide performance figures or further information about the phone’s cameras, storage, connectivity or design.
Large battery and 33W charging
Battery capacity is one of the more notable details in the report. The Darkhawk is expected to have a 6,000mAh battery, which could support extended use between charges. The phone is also said to support 33W wired charging.
Those charging details are not enough to indicate how quickly the battery will recharge in practice. Charging time can depend on factors such as the battery’s starting level and the phone’s software, neither of which has been disclosed.
Android 17 reportedly included at launch
The rumored HMD phone is expected to run stock Android 17 from its first day on sale. The leak does not specify what update policy HMD might offer, and it also does not identify a launch date, price or target market.
For now, “Darkhawk” should be treated as a codename rather than a confirmed product name. HMD has yet to reveal the handset publicly, and the report contains only a partial specification list. Details such as the display resolution, camera hardware, storage, availability and final branding remain unknown.
