HMD’s next budget smartphone may be the Aura 2 Pro, with leaked renders and specifications pointing to a large 90Hz display, a MediaTek chipset and Android 15 Go Edition. The phone has not been officially announced, so these details should be treated as unconfirmed.

The leak follows the original HMD Aura, launched in 2024, and the Aura 2, which arrived in 2025. Images shared on X reportedly show the Aura 2 Pro in two finishes: Meteor Black and Icy Blue.

HMD Aura 2 Pro display and camera specifications

According to the leak, the Aura 2 Pro will use a 6.75-inch LCD panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. A higher refresh rate can make scrolling and supported animations look smoother than they do on a conventional 60Hz screen, although the leak does not provide a resolution or brightness figure.

The reported rear camera setup includes a 50MP main camera alongside two additional sensors. One is listed at 2MP, while the other is described as a 0.08MP sensor. The front-facing camera is reportedly a 5MP unit.

The leaked renders appear to show a conventional smartphone design with the rear cameras grouped on the back and a fingerprint reader mounted on the side. The images are purported renders rather than official product material.

Reported chipset, storage and battery

The phone is expected to use MediaTek’s Helio G81 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM. Storage is reportedly available in 128GB and 256GB versions, with support for expansion through a memory card.

A 5,000mAh battery is also listed, but charging is said to be limited to 10W. That would make the Aura 2 Pro more focused on basic battery capacity than fast charging, although real-world endurance will depend on the display, software and network use.

Android 15 Go Edition and other reported features

The Aura 2 Pro is reportedly set to run Android 15 Go Edition, Google’s streamlined Android version designed for phones with more modest hardware. The leak does not specify how long HMD plans to support the device with operating system updates or security patches.

Other listed features include Bluetooth 5.0 and an IP52 rating for protection against dust and light rain. An IP52 rating does not indicate full waterproofing, so the phone would not be intended for submersion or heavy water exposure.

HMD has not confirmed the Aura 2 Pro’s launch date, price or availability. Until the company releases official information, the reported specifications, colours and design should be considered preliminary.
