Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Ultra may look almost unchanged from the front, according to images shared by Ice Universe. The leak shows screen protectors for the upcoming phone that appear nearly identical to those made for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and they could potentially be interchangeable.

That would make the S27 Ultra’s front-facing design one of Samsung’s smallest year-over-year changes for an Ultra flagship. The information remains unofficial, but it points to Samsung concentrating more of its design work on the phone’s rear camera area than on the display surround.

Galaxy S27 Ultra display size and resolution

Despite the expected visual continuity, the S27 Ultra is reportedly set to receive updated display hardware. Earlier reports indicate that Samsung’s next Ultra model, along with the Galaxy S27 Pro, will use a next-generation M16 OLED panel.

The screen is expected to retain a 6.9-inch size and 1,440 x 3,120-pixel resolution, matching the specifications reported for the Galaxy S26 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Galaxy S24 Ultra used a slightly smaller 6.8-inch display.

The bezels are also expected to remain broadly unchanged. Privacy Display technology is reportedly set to return, although the available information does not indicate any major alteration to the overall screen shape or dimensions.

What the M16 OLED panel could change

M16 display technology has already appeared in the iQOO 16, according to the report. That phone’s panel is advertised with a peak local brightness of 10,000 nits and peak global brightness of 2,800 nits.

The newer panel technology is also expected to improve efficiency, with reported power savings of up to 30 percent. Better color accuracy is another claimed benefit. These changes could improve the S27 Ultra’s viewing experience without changing the way the phone looks from the front.

Those brightness and efficiency figures come from the iQOO 16’s display claims and should not be treated as confirmed specifications for Samsung’s phone.

New selfie camera, familiar front design

The S27 Ultra is also expected to introduce a 16-megapixel selfie camera. That would replace the 12-megapixel front-facing camera Samsung currently uses, though the change may be difficult to notice if the surrounding display design stays the same.

Reports also suggest that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will be close in physical size to the S26 Ultra. A larger battery is expected, enabled by improvements in energy density, but the phone may weigh about 215 grams instead of the S26 Ultra’s 214 grams.

Taken together, the reported specifications suggest a restrained front redesign: a new OLED panel and selfie camera behind an almost unchanged display exterior. Samsung’s more visible design update may instead arrive on the back, where the phone is expected to feature a new camera island.
