Rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra’s redesigned rear camera island have become less clear, with two prominent sources disagreeing over the position of the telephoto camera. The conflicting claims concern the order of components inside a wide, iPhone-like camera plateau expected to span much of the phone’s rear panel.
Earlier reports suggested that the S27 Ultra would move away from the camera styling used by recent Ultra models. The cameras are still expected to sit toward the left side of the raised section, but the exact arrangement of the lenses, microphone, sensors and flash remains uncertain.
Conflicting claims about the telephoto camera
One recent rumor places the telephoto camera on the right side of the vertical component group. Under it, the layout would include a microphone opening, a set of unspecified sensors and then a circular LED flash at the bottom.
That arrangement has raised questions because recent renders shared by Ice Universe appeared to lack the expected microphone opening. Ice Universe later offered a different interpretation, saying the telephoto camera is actually at the bottom of the group, with the LED flash positioned above it.
The disagreement suggests that the phone’s external design may still be changing, or that the available renders do not clearly show every component. Neither claim establishes a final camera layout for Samsung’s next Ultra model.
Galaxy S27 Ultra may use one telephoto lens
The position of the components is less significant than another reported change: the Galaxy S27 Ultra may have only one telephoto camera. Previous Ultra phones included two telephoto lenses, so removing one would represent a more substantial change to the camera system than moving the flash or microphone.
The available reports do not specify how Samsung might compensate for the missing second telephoto lens. They also do not confirm the capabilities of the remaining telephoto camera, so the effect on zoom performance cannot yet be determined.
Rumored battery and storage configurations
A recent certification reportedly lists the Galaxy S27 Ultra with a 5,700 mAh battery and support for 60W wired charging. Those details remain part of the rumor cycle until Samsung formally announces the phone.
Another recent report claims Samsung will offer three memory and storage combinations: 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage, 12GB with 512GB, and 16GB with 1TB. The reported lineup would match the configuration range associated with the previous Ultra model.
Samsung has not confirmed the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s design, camera hardware, battery capacity or storage options. Until official information appears, the contradictory camera reports should be treated as provisional rather than a final specification.
