Apple is testing a completely redesigned Health app in the iOS 27.2 beta, adding new Insights and Longevity tabs that organize health and fitness information in greater detail. Although the app is included in the beta for testing, Apple plans to release it later this year instead of making it part of the final iOS 27.2 update.

The redesign builds on data collected from the iPhone, Apple Watch and compatible fitness devices. It is intended to help users review recent health information while also identifying longer-term trends.

What the Insights tab shows

The new Insights tab brings together recent measurements, including Activity Rings, heart rate, sleep score and vitals. Apple also plans to add personalized guidance to this section, but that functionality is not yet available in the current beta.

Owners of an Apple Watch Series 12 or Apple Watch Ultra 4 will also see a readiness score. The score is calculated using recent activity, vital signs and sleep score. It is designed to help users decide whether to focus on recovery or take on more demanding activity.

How the Longevity tab calculates Health Age

The Longevity tab focuses on health data collected over time. It uses information such as activity level, VO2 max and sleep duration to calculate a Health Age score.

The app will also include fitness assessments that users can complete with an iPhone. These assessments measure areas including flexibility, balance and VO2 max, giving the Health Age calculation additional information beyond day-to-day activity data.

Lab results and compatible devices

Apple plans to offer a $119 laboratory panel through Quest Diagnostics. Results from that panel will contribute to the Health Age score. Until then, users can upload recent lab results to the Health app.

Access to the app's full range of features will require an Apple Watch or another fitness device that integrates with Apple Health. iPhone users without a connected wearable or compatible device may see less information in the redesigned interface.

When the redesigned Health app will launch

Apple is currently evaluating the redesigned app through the iOS 27.2 beta. Despite its presence in that test software, the company does not plan to include it in the iOS 27.2 release. Apple instead expects the updated Health app to launch later this year.
