Amazon has introduced the Fire TV Stick 4K (2026), a slimmer streaming device that uses the company’s Vega OS and includes a redesigned Fire TV Remote. The $60 streamer is available in several markets, while Amazon is offering it for $30 during Prime Big Deal Days.
Amazon says the new model is 20% to 40% faster than similarly priced 4K streaming sticks from other brands. It is powered by a quad-core 1.7GHz processor and includes 8GB of internal storage.
Fire TV Stick 4K specifications
The new Fire TV Stick 4K supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and Bluetooth Low Energy. It can decode 4K video at up to 60 frames per second using the H.264, H.265, VP9 and AV1 codecs.
HDR support includes HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG. Dolby Vision is not supported, however, leaving the Fire TV Stick 4K Max as the option for viewers who need that format. The Max also includes Wi-Fi 6E.
Amazon has adopted a slimmer design based on the Fire TV Stick HD introduced earlier in the year. The device can use Amazon’s Direct Power feature, allowing it to draw power from a compatible TV’s USB port instead of requiring a separate power adapter and wall outlet.
Vega OS replaces Android-based Fire OS
Unlike the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, the new model runs Vega OS rather than the Android-based Fire OS. Amazon says more than 2,000 apps have been added to the platform over the past year as support continues to expand.
Supported services include Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Prime Video, HBO Max, Peacock, Tubi and Pluto. Vega OS also supports Instagram, VLC, Spotify, Xbox gaming services and VPN connections.
The switch to Vega OS may be the most important difference for buyers comparing Amazon’s current Fire TV devices. Although the platform now covers many major streaming services, app availability remains a consideration for anyone relying on a less common service.
New Fire TV Remote adds shortcut controls
The new Fire TV Remote ships with the Fire TV Stick 4K and will also be sold separately for $15 in the US. It works with Fire TV streaming devices dating back to 2019 and with Amazon Ember TVs. Amazon says the standalone remote will ship in late October.
The remote has a flat upper section and a weighted, rounded lower section. Its Home button uses a distinct metal surface to make it easier to locate by touch.
A new Star button can be assigned to a favorite app or to a frequently used feature such as closed captions or Screen Magnifier. Amazon also plans to launch a Fire TV Remote Plus next year with an aluminum body and backlit keys.
Pricing and availability
The Fire TV Stick 4K (2026) is available through Amazon in the US, Canada, Japan, Mexico, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Australia. Amazon says it will reach additional markets next month.
The regular price is $60, but the device is available for $30 during Prime Big Deal Days. The new Fire TV Remote costs $15 separately in the US.
