Samsung is expanding the language capabilities of its Galaxy AI tools and Bixby, adding new options for translation, summarization, transcription, and voice assistance. The company announced the changes on October 14, with Bixby support available immediately and the Galaxy AI updates scheduled to roll out over the coming weeks.
The expansion is aimed at making several existing features more useful to people who communicate in Malay, Hungarian, Polish, Thai, and Vietnamese. Availability may depend on the specific feature and the timing of Samsung’s regional rollout.
Galaxy AI adds Malay and Hungarian
Samsung said four Galaxy AI features will add support for Malay and Hungarian: Call Assist, Interpreter, Note Assist, and Transcript Assist. These tools cover several common tasks, including translating conversations, helping users communicate across languages, summarizing notes, and converting spoken content into text.
The addition of Malay and Hungarian also expands the language coverage of Live Translate. Samsung said Live Translate will support 24 languages in total once the new options are included.
Galaxy AI support for the two languages will not arrive all at once. Samsung expects the updates to become available over the coming weeks, meaning users may see the changes at different times depending on their device and market.
Now Nudge reaches 24 languages
Samsung’s Now Nudge feature is also receiving an expansion. The company said the feature will add support for eight languages, bringing its total language count to 24.
Samsung did not specify the eight languages in the announcement. As a result, the newly supported languages for Now Nudge cannot be confirmed from the company’s published details. The update is part of the broader effort to extend Galaxy AI beyond translation and transcription features.
Bixby adds Polish, Thai, and Vietnamese
Bixby is gaining support for Polish, Thai, and Vietnamese. Samsung said these additions will bring Bixby’s total supported language count to 12.
Unlike the Galaxy AI updates, the new Bixby language support is available starting today, according to Samsung. Users who speak the newly supported languages should therefore begin seeing access sooner, although the exact experience may vary by device, software version, and market.
The changes give Samsung’s voice assistant broader regional coverage while also extending the reach of Galaxy AI tools designed to process spoken and written content. For users in the affected language groups, the most immediate benefits will come from translation, note-taking, transcription, and voice-command features as Samsung completes the rollout.
