Amazon UK’s Prime deal has cut the price of the Poco F9 Pro by about a third, bringing the performance-focused smartphone to under £600. The phone combines a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V series processor with a high-refresh-rate display, a large battery and a 200MP main camera.
The discount makes the Poco F9 Pro an alternative to more expensive flagship phones, although its camera system and thermal management do not match the very best devices in the market.
Snapdragon performance at a lower price
The Poco F9 Pro uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V series chipset. Its CPU configuration is the same as the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, with two Oryon cores clocked at 4.61GHz and six running at 3.63GHz. The main compromise is the GPU, which has two-thirds of the compute units found in the full version.
Compared with the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, the V series offers higher CPU clock speeds and includes 12MB of Adreno High Performance Memory. That is less than the 18MB available on the full Elite chip, but the non-Elite Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 does not include this memory. Testing found the processor impressive overall, though the phone’s throttling behavior still needs refinement.
185Hz display and fast charging
The phone takes a middle-ground approach to size with a 6.59-inch display. Its panel has a 1,156 x 2,560-pixel resolution, 12-bit color, Dolby Vision support, a 185Hz refresh rate and up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness. Gorilla Glass 7i provides protection for the screen.
A 6,330mAh battery supplies the power. The Poco F9 Pro supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. In testing, a 15-minute session with a 100W HyperCharge adapter restored 41% of the battery, while a full charge took 43 minutes.
Battery endurance is another strength. The phone recorded an Active Use Score of 19 hours and six minutes, broadly matching more expensive models including the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, iPhone 18 Pro Max and last year’s Poco F8 Ultra.
Camera hardware and storage options
The rear camera system improves on many earlier Poco phones but remains below the company’s top-tier F9 Ultra. It includes a 200MP main sensor measuring 1/1.56 inches, paired with an f/1.7 lens and optical image stabilization. A 50MP 2.5x telephoto camera provides a 60mm equivalent focal length, while the 8MP ultrawide camera is the weakest part of the setup.
For buyers considering the deal, the 512GB version is the more appealing configuration. It retains 12GB of RAM but doubles the storage for an additional £50. That upgrade could be useful for people who install demanding games or keep a large collection of photos and video on the phone.
At under £600 during Amazon UK’s Prime promotion, the Poco F9 Pro offers a strong mix of processor performance, display technology, battery life and charging speed. Its weaker ultrawide camera and imperfect throttling are the main trade-offs.
