Apple has refreshed its smart-home lineup with three new products: the $299 HomeView home hub, a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K and a second-generation HomePod mini. The company is accepting preorders now, with the HomePod mini 2 arriving October 30 and the HomeView and Apple TV 4K launching November 13.
The announcements expand Apple’s smart-home strategy beyond speakers and streaming boxes. HomeView is designed to act as a central household display, while the updated Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini add faster hardware and expanded Siri capabilities.
Apple HomeView is a new central home hub
HomeView is a new $299 device built around a home-focused display. It provides access to apps, widgets and personalized content for as many as six people, positioning it as a shared screen for household information and controls.
Apple says HomeView will support features including guided recipes and hands-free timers, which could make it useful in kitchens and other shared spaces. The device can also run third-party apps from an iPhone or iPad. Some of its AI features require an iPhone or iPad, and Apple says HomeView will not be available in the European Union.
The product comes in four colors, although the wall-mounted version is limited to two. Apple has also highlighted privacy features and the ability to dim the display to its lowest brightness level yet. The company plans to offer an optional in-home installation service through ADT.
Apple TV 4K gets an A19 chip and hands-free Siri
The new Apple TV 4K costs $299 and includes an A19 chip, increased internal storage and Wi-Fi 7. Apple has added far-field microphones, allowing users to interact with Siri without relying exclusively on the remote.
The updated Siri Remote is available separately for $59 and works with certain existing Apple TV models. The new Apple TV 4K also supports surround sound through four HomePod speakers. Apple says older Apple TV 4K models will gain support for Apple Intelligence and Siri AI as well.
At $299, the new Apple TV 4K is more expensive than earlier models, but Apple is pairing the higher price with faster hardware, additional storage and improved connectivity.
HomePod mini 2 adds faster hardware and new colors
The $149 HomePod mini 2 features a faster chip, new color options and support for a feature called Sound Glow. Apple also says two HomePod mini 2 speakers can be used with the new Apple TV 4K for four-speaker surround sound.
Although Apple has positioned Siri AI as part of the new smart-home lineup, the company says HomePod mini 2 will not support those features immediately. The speaker is scheduled to launch October 30, ahead of the HomeView and Apple TV 4K.
Apple expands its broader home strategy
Alongside the three devices, Apple introduced an Apple Home Collection featuring cameras, a lock, thermostats and other products. The announcements indicate that Apple is building a broader connected-home platform around shared displays, voice control, media and home automation.
For now, customers can preorder the Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini 2 and HomeView. Availability varies by product, with the HomePod mini 2 arriving first and the other two devices following in November.
