Apple has released the first developer beta of iOS 27.2, beginning testing just two days after the public launch of iOS 27. The company also made the first iPadOS 27.2 beta available to registered developers.

Developers can access the update through the Software Update section in Settings by opting into the iOS 27 developer beta channel. Apple has not detailed a complete list of changes, but several features already announced or delayed could arrive during the iOS 27.2 testing cycle.

New Siri languages could arrive in iOS 27.2

Apple plans to expand Siri AI support to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish in October. The company has not confirmed that the new language support will be included in iOS 27.2, but the timing makes the update a possible delivery vehicle.

The language expansion is part of Apple’s broader effort to extend its AI-powered Siri features beyond the initial launch markets. If the functionality appears in this beta, developers may begin finding evidence of the supported languages as testing progresses.

Delayed Apple Intelligence features remain possible

Two Apple Intelligence capabilities were absent from the initial iOS 27 release. Apple delayed AI-generated suggestions in Messages conversations and an option to automatically fix compromised and weak passwords.

Both features could return in iOS 27.2, although Apple has not said when they will become available. Their inclusion would make the update more significant than a routine maintenance release and give developers an early look at how the delayed tools work.

Apple may preview a redesigned Health app

Apple is also planning a new Health app experience. The first iOS 27.2 beta could provide an early preview of that redesign, though the available information does not confirm that it is included in this release.

The company’s decision to begin with an iOS 27.2 beta instead of first releasing an iOS 27.1 beta is unusual. Apple is expected to ship the iPhone Duo with iOS 27.1, and that version is planned to include features designed for the device’s two displays.

iOS 27.1 is tied to the iPhone Duo launch

Planned iOS 27.1 changes for the iPhone Duo include updated app layouts, a vertical dock, a vertical Dynamic Island, side-by-side multitasking, dual-screen app arrangements and exclusive Camera app capabilities.

The iPhone Duo is scheduled to launch on Friday, October 23, with iOS 27.1 installed. Apple therefore needs to release iOS 27.1 before that date. Holding back the beta could allow the company to keep the device-specific features private until closer to launch.

If iOS 27.2 adds the new Siri languages, that update could also reach users sometime in October. The first beta does not establish a final release date, and additional changes may appear as Apple continues testing the software.
