Apple has released the first developer betas of watchOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2. The new builds arrive two days after Apple released the 27.0 software updates and launch alongside the first 27.2 betas for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Registered developers can download the software through the Settings app on the relevant Apple device. Apple has not detailed the complete changes included in the new updates, so the initial releases may primarily give developers an early look at upcoming maintenance and feature work.

Apple Watch could test new Intelligence features

The watchOS 27.2 beta could be significant for Apple Watch users because Apple is expected to bring two Apple Intelligence features to the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 in late 2026. Testing could begin with this software release, although the source does not confirm that either feature is present in the first beta.

The first feature, called Live Rewind, is designed to provide a transcription of the previous 15 seconds of conversation. Users would activate it by double-pressing the Digital Crown, giving them a way to review something that was just said.

The second feature, Siri Recap, would turn conversations users had throughout the day into high-level notes. The two tools would expand the role of Apple Intelligence on the Apple Watch beyond basic voice interactions, but Apple has not provided further details about how they will work or when testing will be available to all users.

tvOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2 details remain unclear

Apple has not announced what is included in the first tvOS 27.2 or visionOS 27.2 betas. The company may reveal additional changes as developers examine the releases and later beta versions become available.

The tvOS update is arriving as Apple is expected to introduce a new Apple TV 4K model with Siri AI support before the end of the year. However, there is no confirmation that the new hardware will launch alongside tvOS 27.2 or that the feature is included in this first beta.

What developers can do now

Developers enrolled in Apple's testing program can install the betas from the Settings app on compatible devices. Early software releases are intended for development and testing, so users who rely on their Apple Watch, Apple TV or Vision Pro should consider the potential risks before installing them.

More information about the features and release plans for watchOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2 is likely to emerge through subsequent beta updates. Apple has not announced public release dates for the three operating systems.
