Apple has updated its free Apple Invites app for iPhone with two features aimed at making event management easier. Version 1.12.1 lets hosts manually add guests and record their RSVP status, while the app's Home Screen widget now supports Apple's extra-large size.

The update is available through the App Store. Its guest-management changes are designed for situations where someone confirms attendance outside the app, such as in person or through another messaging service. Hosts can add that person to the event and mark the appropriate RSVP status, helping keep the in-app guest list current.

Manual guest and RSVP tracking

Before this update, hosts had fewer ways to reflect confirmations that happened away from Apple Invites. The new controls allow them to enter guests manually and indicate whether they have confirmed, declined or have not responded, based on the status options described in the app's release notes.

This could be useful for events where not every attendee responds through the original invitation link. Rather than relying solely on app-based replies, hosts can now maintain a more complete record in the event itself.

Extra-large Invites widget

Apple has also expanded the Invites widget with support for the extra-large Home Screen format. The larger layout gives users another way to display the event countdown on an iPhone Home Screen.

Widget size options vary by Home Screen layout, so the new format provides more flexibility for people who want an event countdown to occupy more space. Apple says the update also includes bug fixes and performance improvements.

Apple Invites requirements

Apple launched Invites in February 2025 as a way to create and manage invitations for events such as birthday parties and baby showers. Creating an event requires an iCloud+ subscription with at least 50GB of storage, which Apple lists at $0.99 per month.

Recipients do not need an iCloud+ subscription to respond. Anyone with an event link can RSVP for free from any device, according to the app's listing.

The latest version can be downloaded from the App Store. The release keeps Apple Invites focused on straightforward event planning while addressing a common practical problem: keeping attendance information accurate when replies happen outside the app.
