Apple could launch new MacBook Pro models with OLED displays and touchscreen support on Friday, November 6, according to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman. The laptops are expected to be introduced several days earlier, on October 27 or October 28.
The reported launch would mark a significant change for the MacBook Pro lineup, which currently uses mini-LED displays and does not offer touchscreen input. Apple has not announced the products or confirmed the timing.
Possible October introduction
Gurman said on his latest podcast that Apple is planning a creator-focused gathering in Los Angeles for the new products. The company may also release videos about the devices instead of holding a traditional public launch event.
Apple retail stores are reportedly scheduled for a major floor reset beginning on the evening of Thursday, November 5, and continuing into Friday, November 6. According to Gurman, the timing could indicate that stores are preparing to display and sell the new Macs.
The reported product lineup could include the OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro, an OLED iPad mini, an M6 iMac and an M6 entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro. The details remain unconfirmed, and it is not clear whether every product would be introduced at the same time.
New OLED models may sit above current MacBook Pros
The OLED MacBook Pro models could be positioned as higher-end options alongside the existing mini-LED versions. Despite the display change, new processors are not expected for these models. Apple is reportedly planning to use the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips found in the current MacBook Pro lineup.
Gurman previously suggested Apple might call the OLED laptops the “MacBook Ultra,” but later indicated that they would likely remain part of the MacBook Pro family. Apple has not adopted the Ultra name for these products.
Apple may have a busy product schedule
A November 6 MacBook Pro launch would arrive during a particularly active period for Apple hardware releases. The iPhone Duo is expected to arrive on October 23, followed by the HomePod mini 2 on October 30.
Apple is also expected to release the HomeView and a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K on November 13. If those dates hold, the company would have multiple product launches scheduled across several consecutive weeks.
Until Apple provides official details, the reported OLED display, touchscreen functionality, naming and release dates should be treated as unconfirmed.
