Apple has opened pre-orders for the iPhone Duo, and AT&T and T-Mobile are offering discounts for customers who trade in an eligible phone or add a new line. The promotions vary by carrier, plan and trade-in value, with credits generally distributed over 36 months rather than applied upfront.
AT&T iPhone Duo pre-order offers
AT&T customers can receive up to $1,200 off the iPhone Duo with an eligible trade-in. The offer is available to both new and existing customers who activate a new line or upgrade an existing one. The discount requires an eligible trade-in valued at $230 or more and an AT&T Premium 2.0 plan or higher.
AT&T applies the promotional value as monthly bill credits over 36 months. The carrier’s other discount levels are tied to different plans and minimum trade-in values:
- Up to $1,200 off: Premium 2.0 or higher, with a trade-in valued at $230 or more.
- Up to $930 off: Extra 2.0 or higher, with a trade-in valued at $130 or more.
- Up to $500 off: Value 2.0, with a trade-in valued at $130 or more.
- Up to $350 off: Any eligible unlimited plan, with a trade-in valued between $35 and $129.
People switching to AT&T can also receive up to $800 toward paying off their current device balance. AT&T is offering an additional $200 per line for online smartphone orders.
T-Mobile iPhone Duo pre-order offers
T-Mobile is offering up to $1,000 off the iPhone Duo when customers on an Experience Beyond plan trade in a device, regardless of its condition. Like AT&T’s promotion, T-Mobile issues the discount through bill credits over 36 months.
Customers on the Experience More or Experience Beyond plans can receive up to $830 off with a trade-in. T-Mobile also advertises up to $730 off for customers adding a new line on most other plans. These offers also use the 36-month bill-credit schedule.
What to check before ordering
The headline discounts depend on several conditions, including the selected plan, the phone being traded in and whether the customer is activating a new line or upgrading. Since the savings arrive as monthly credits, leaving a carrier or changing eligibility before the full 36-month period could affect the remaining benefit.
Customers should review the carrier’s current offer terms and confirm their trade-in value before completing an iPhone Duo pre-order. The best promotion will depend on whether the customer already has a qualifying plan, is switching carriers or is adding a new line.
